Masaryk University Exchange Program Opportunities

Warm regards from Brno, from Masaryk University. I hope you are doing well. I have a special offer for you, if you have students from the field of Social Studies, Humanities or Economics. The students must be with EXCELLENT English.  This year we have been able to secure funding here at Masaryk University to allow participation of partner’s students at the brand-new summer program. Not that it would cover just tuition fees, excellent cultural program that will take the students to three other European countries, and accommodation, but it would also pay (part of) travel expenses from their home institution to Brno and then back.

The program in question is called “Waves and Ebbs of Democracy: Lessons learnt from Central European ‘There and Back Again’”, and it will run from 16 June to 7 July. It will be an interdisciplinary course looking at the democratization and transformational process that has shaped Central Europe in the last thirty years, and also what this experience might mean for the countries undergoing similar changes and challenges now. The course uses the approach of four major disciplines – sociology, political science, economy and law – but is open to students coming across the board: Given its theme, it can be relevant – in addition to the disciplines mentioned above – also to the students of history, international relation, business, and European studies.

The structure of the course is as follows: Four days in a week in a classroom, then three-day trip outside to Prague, Vienna and Budapest. The program is quite intensive, there are many formal and informal learning activities, and the course assessment will consist of exams, presentations, essays, as well as in-class activity.
